Patter

Patter is a freeform generative sequencer, enabling music producers to create rhythms and patterns by composing systems of random variation. At its core, it is based on an original model of musical form that emerged out of my experiments in improvisational laptop performance and research into musicology as a graduate student at CalArts. From there, I developed communicative interfaces for random number generation and visualization, and productized the result as a Max For Live device. Even before its release, the software was being used by its beta testers for performances and video game soundtracks, and it continues to sell and be used today.
